Anyone can self-refer to our programs and speak to a trained mental health and addictions clinician that will help match you to the best care and support to meet your needs. A referral can also be made on the person’s behalf by their doctor, other health care professionals, a community agency, or by a family member.

Nova Scotia Health also encourages people, or someone they care about, who feel they require immediate crisis support anywhere in the province at any time to call the Mental Health and Addictions Provincial Crisis Line, available 24 hours a day, seven days a week toll-free at 1-888-429-8167. People will be connected to a mental health crisis clinician who can help provide in-the-moment support to someone experiencing a crisis, and can guide people in the next steps if further support is required.
