ODGER Swivel Chair recalled due to fall hazard

Issue

The star-shaped support base of the chair may unexpectedly detach, posing a fall and injury hazard.

 

As of December 19, 2022, the company has received no reports of incidents in Canada.  Worldwide, the company has received 19 reports of the star-shaped support base detaching, with 5 reports of injuries from the fall.

Affected products

This recall involves the ODGER Swivel Chair sold in the anthracite colour with date stamps before and including 2221 (yyww). The article number for the chair is 20395270. The chair has a bowl-shaped seat and rounded backrest with adjustable height and swivel. The chair also has a star-shaped support base. (Note: the white ODGER swivel chair does not pose the same hazard and is not included in this recall.)

What you should do

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled chair and return the product to an IKEA Canada store for a refund.
