Four people in Southwestern Nova Scotia were sentenced to pay a combined $70K for unlawful transport of halibut, possession of undersized halibut and for obstructing fishery officers.

 

One of these individuals is banned from fishing any species except lobster for the next three years.

Items seized during the investigation, including $34K worth of halibut, a truck and a trailer, were forfeited.

The regulations related to the harvesting, buying, selling and/or possession of fish allow for a safe, orderly, and sustainable fishery for the benefit of all.
