Significant wind and heavy rain are expected beginning on Wednesday night.

Maximum wind gusts: 80 to 100 km/h. Stronger coastal gusts possible.

Total rainfall: 40 to 60 mm. Locally higher amounts possible.

Locations: Nova Scotia.

Time span: Wednesday night into Thursday morning.

Remarks: Very strong southerly winds will develop late Wednesday in advance of a vigorous cold front. The passage of this front will also bring intense rain in a fairly short period of time. Ponding/pooling on roadways may occur. Strong winds may toss loose objects (decorations) and cause tree branches to break. Isolated utility outages may occur.

Wind and rainfall warnings may be issued by ECCC meteorologists as this event draws nearer.
