Halifax District RCMP arrest three drivers for impaired driving

Halifax District RCMP has arrested three people for impaired driving in less than 6 hours.

On November 25, at approximately 8 p.m., Halifax District RCMP observed a Nissan Altima driving erratically on First Lake Dr. in Lower Sackville and completed a traffic stop on the vehicle. The driver, a 52-year-old Halifax man, was exhibiting signs of impairment and provided a roadside breath sample which resulted in a “fail”. The driver was arrested and transported to the Lower Sackville Detachment where he provided subsequent breath samples that registered 100mg%.

Less than one hour later, RCMP officers received a complaint of a possible impaired driver in the Tantallon area. Officers located the vehicle, a Hyundai Tucson, parked at a residence on Freda Lane in Hubley. The driver of the vehicle, a 27-year-old Hubley woman who was exhibiting signs of impairment, provided a roadside breath sample which resulted in a “fail”. She was arrested and transported to the Tantallon Detachment where she provided subsequent breath samples that registered 90mg% and 100mg%.

On November 26, shortly before 1 a.m., RCMP officers observed a Jeep Renegade turning onto the lawn of a gas station, on Sackville Dr. in Lower Sackville, and crashing into a sign. Officers attended the crash and approached the driver, a 23-year-old Lower Sackville man, who was exhibiting signs of impairment. The driver was arrested for Impaired Operation of a Conveyance and transported to the Lower Sackville Detachment where he provided breath samples that registered 90mg% and 110mg%.

All of the drivers were released from custody and will appear in court at a later date. Impaired drivers face charges of Impaired Operation of a Conveyance and Operation of a Conveyance 80mg% or over.
