Youth charged with sexual offences

The Special Victims Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division has charged a youth with sexual offences that occurred in Shad Bay.

On October 27, 2022, Halifax District RCMP received a complaint of sexual assault involving youths and began an investigation. Officers learned that sexual assaults, distribution of intimate images and extortion began in 2019 and involved a victim known to the offender.

The youth, who was arrested and released on conditions, will appear in Halifax Youth Justice Court on November 24, 2022, at 9:30 a.m to face charges of Sexual Assault (two counts) and Extortion.

The investigation is ongoing.
