Lunenburg District RCMP rescues missing hunter

Lunenburg District RCMP rescued a missing hunter that had fallen into water near Middlewood in Lunenburg County.

On November 1, 2022, at approximately 7:20 p.m., Lunenburg District RCMP responded to a report of a hunter missing from Llewllyn Rd. in Middlewood. RCMP officers learned that the hunter had gone into the woods at approximately 9 a.m. that morning and did not return when he was supposed to. RCMP officers began searching the wooded area and trails nearby and at approximately 9 p.m., an RCMP officer located the hunter, stuck in a mud hole that was filled with water. The RCMP officer managed to lift the hunter out of the mud hole and helped him walk far enough down the trail that firefighters on ATVs could come their assistance. Once the firefighters arrived, the hunter was loaded onto an ATV and was driven out of the woods to EHS. The hunter was transported to hospital by ambulance for further treatment for signs of exposure.

The RCMP would like to thank the Italy Cross/Middlewood Volunteer Fire Department and EHS for their assistance, and wishes the hunter well in his recovery.
