Weekly Traffic Advisories (Oct 28)

Note: Each week the local listings are expanded and updated. During the week new and updated tasks are added. Every week a new post is started with fresh info but previous posts may be still valid.

 

**** Municipal Release

Road Closure – Farnham Gate Road

Location: Farnham Gate Road, from Dunbrack Street to Parkland Drive

Date: Friday, Nov. 4 and Saturday, Nov. 5. Rain Date: Sunday, Nov. 6

Time: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day

Work details: This work is related to paving operations.​ This project supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network

Traffic Impact: This will be a moving closure that moves with the construction crews. No thru traffic will be permitted, but access to driveways will be accommodated as crews move. Pedestrian traffic will be accommodated. Traffic control personnel will be in place to direct residents. Marked detours will be in place. Motorists should expect delays and find alternate routes where possible.

Traffic Delay – Massachusetts Avenue

 

Location: Massachusetts Avenue, from MacKay bridge ramps to Columbus Street

 

Dates: Thursday, Nov. 3 to Saturday, Nov. 5

 

Time: Thursday and Friday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

 

Work details: This work is for pavement maintenance. This project supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

 

Traffic impact:  Lane drops will be in place while work is underway. Work on Thursday and Friday will take place in the outbound lanes from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and will move to the inbound lanes from 3:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Road Construction – Bedford Highway

Location:​ Bedford Highway, from Union Street to Rocky Lake Drive

Date: Thursday, Nov. 3

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Work details:​ This work is for landscaping work.​ This project supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact:​ Lane drops will be in place while work is underway.​ Motorists should expect delays and are advised to use alternative routes whenever possible.​

Traffic Delay – Quinpool Road

Location:​ Quinpool Road, between Oxford and Vernon streets

Date: Wednesday, Nov. 2 from 7 p.m. to midnight

Work details:​ This delay is to facilitate utility work by Nova Scotia Power.

Traffic impact: One-way traffic will be maintained while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Road Construction – Larry Uteck Boulevard at Southgate Drive

Location:​ Intersection of Larry Uteck Boulevard at Southgate Drive

Date: Tuesday, November 1 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Work details:​ The work is for paving at the intersection.​ This project supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: During this work, the traffic signals will be shut down and traffic control personnel will be in place to direct traffic and pedestrians. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.​

Night Time​ Road Construction – Windmill Road

Location:​ Windmill Road, from Akerley Boulevard to Victoria Road

Date: Monday, Oct. 31

Time: 7 p.m. until 7 a.m. the following morning.

Work details:​ The work is for pavement management.​ This project supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: Lane drops will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.​

Traffic Delay – Portland Street

 

Location: Portland Street between Pleasant Street and Prince Albert Road

Date: Wednesday, November 2 to Tuesday, November 15

 

Time: Weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

 

Work details: This work is to facilitate the completion of underground infrastructure and asphalt patching.

Traffic impact: Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway. The sidewalk will remain open on north side of Portland Street and will be closed on the south side of Portland Street. The bus stop on Prince Albert Road will be relocated temporarily to 15 Prince Albert Road. Motorists are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Road Construction – St. Margarets Bay Road

Location: St. Margarets Bay Road, between civic addresses 1031 and 1075

Date:​ Monday, Oct. 31 to Saturday, Dec. 24

Time: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Work details: This work is to facilitate the construction of an intersection for a new street.

Traffic impact: Two-way traffic will be maintained during peak hours, with potential periods of stop-and-go traffic outside of peak hours. Lane widths will be reduced, and a temporary protected multi-use pathway will be installed on the north side of St. Margarets Bay Road to facilitate this work.

Halifax Transit stop 6179 will be temporarily relocated to 1075 St. Margarets Bay Road.​ Rock breaking activities will take place on the north side of St. Margarets Bay Road as part of this work, as blasting operations are not permitted near overhead electrical and communication lines.

Date:​ Saturday, Oct. 29, 2022

Time: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Work details: This work is to facilitate a natural gas pipeline installation.

Traffic impact: One-way stop-and-go traffic will be maintained during the work.

Time:​ 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. each day

Work details: This work is for pavement rehabilitation. This project supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

NEW WORK

ANNAPOLIS COUNTY: Phinney Mill Bridge, Wilmot

Phinney Mill Bridge on Todd Branch Road will be closed for repairs to the deck from Monday, October 31, to Friday, November 4.

It will be closed to all traffic between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. each day.

A detour is available on Old Mill Road and Route 201.

CONTINUING WORK

ANNAPOLIS COUNTY: Brickton Bridge, Brickton

Brickton Bridge, on Mount Hanley Road, will be closed for repairs until Friday, December 16.

A detour is in place.

ANTIGONISH COUNTY: Highway 104, James River

Highway 104, westbound lane about one kilometre west of James River Interchange, Exit 30, is reduced to one lane for about one kilometre.

Twinning work continues until 2023.

Signs are in place and drivers are encouraged to use caution.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Burnett Bridge, Pine Grove

Burnett Bridge, over McLean Brook on Route 224 in Pine Grove, is closed until further notice.

Detour signs and a 30-tonne weight restriction are in place. All other trucks are to follow the posted truck route. The detour is via Saint Andrews River Road.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Old Truro Road, Tatamagouche

Old Truro Road, from Kennedy Hill intersection to the Cross Road in North River, is closed until further notice due to a large culvert failure.

A detour is in place.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Salmon River Bridge, Truro

Salmon River Bridge, on Highway 102 between exits 14 and 14A, is reduced to one lane northbound until Monday, October 31, due to work on the bridge decking.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place weekdays from sunrise to sunset.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Slade Road, Tatamagouche

Slade Road is closed between Lake Road and West Tatamagouche Road until further notice due to a bridge closure.

CUMBERLAND COUNTY: Apple River Bridge

Apple River Bridge, on Shulie Road between Advocate and Joggins, will be closed due to structural damage until further notice.

Signs and detour are in place.

GUYSBOROUGH COUNTY: Route 344 (Main Street), Mulgrave

Route 344/Main Street traffic is being re-routed onto the newly installed detour bridge.

The entrance to Mill Street from Main Street is closed, and drivers should use an alternate route. Signs are in place.

The detour will remain in place until mid-November.

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Highway 102, Bedford/Lower Sackville

Highway 102 from Exit 4A to Exit 4C, will have lane reductions and intermittent road closures on the northbound and southbound highway for the construction of the Highway 107-Highway 102 Interchange.

Highway 102 northbound and southbound, Highway 101, Bedford Highway, Bedford Bypass, Duke Street, Glendale Avenue and Sackville Drive will have intermittent road closures for blasting until June 30, 2023.

Traffic control will be on-site. Road closures for blasting will occur between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday to Thursday and from 9 a.m. to noon on Friday. Lane reductions will occur from sunrise to sunset Monday to Thursday and from sunrise to noon on Friday.

HANTS COUNTY: Highway 101, Windsor

The eastbound off-ramp at Exit 6, Highway 101, is closed for the construction of a new interchange to downtown Windsor.

A detour is available via Exit 5A. The off-ramp will be closed until September 2023.

HANTS COUNTY: Hydes Bridge, Lantz

Hydes Bridge on Highway 277 is closed until further notice.

A detour is in place via Dutch Settlement Road, Elmsdale Road and Trunk 2. Signs are in place.

INVERNESS COUNTY: Dunmore Road, Dunmore

Dunmore Road, from one kilometre east of Trunk 19 easterly for 6.3 kilometres, is reduced to one lane for gravelling until Wednesday, November 30.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

LUNENBURG COUNTY: Indian Path Bridge, Bayport

Indian Path Bridge, Route 332, is closed for replacement until further notice.

A detour is in place.

PICTOU COUNTY: East River West Side Road, Eureka

The section between 6280 East River West Side Road and Churchville Road is closed until Monday, October 31 for the replacement of the Eureka Mills Bridge.

A detour is in place.

PICTOU COUNTY: Trunk 4, Linacy

Trunk 4, from Frasers Mountain Road to Pine Tree Road, will be reduced to one lane until Monday, October 31 for repairs.

Signs are in place and drivers are encouraged to use caution.

PICTOU COUNTY: Westville Road, New Glasgow

Westville Road at Highway 104 is closed nightly, Sunday through Thursday, from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Work continues until Monday, October 31. A detour will be in place and drivers should proceed with caution.

RICHMOND COUNTY: Port Royal Bridge, Isle Madame

Port Royal Bridge on Port Royal Road is closed until further notice. A detour is in place on MacEachern Road.

SHELBURNE COUNTY: Highway 103, Jordan Falls

Highway 103, about 100 metres west of Exit 24, has alternating lane closures for rehabilitation work on Jordan Falls Bridge until Monday, October 31.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place weekdays from sunrise to sunset.

VICTORIA COUNTY: Highway 105

Highway 105, from 3.2 kilometres west of Trunk 30 easterly to 600 metres east of Route 312, is reduced to one lane for road work until Monday, October 31.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place weekdays from sunrise to sunset.
