Note: Each week the local listings are expanded and updated. During the week new and updated tasks are added. Every week a new post is started with fresh info but previous posts may be still valid.

Road Construction – Lady Hammond Road

 

Location: Lady Hammond Road, from Robie Street to Memorial Drive

 

Date: Friday, Oct. 21 to Friday, Oct. 28

 

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (weekdays only)

Work details: This work is related to road maintenance. This project supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

 

Traffic impact: Lane drops will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are advised to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Traffic Delay – Young Street

Location: 6189 Young Street

Date: ​ Saturday, October 22 to Monday, October 24

Time: 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on the weekend, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday

Work details: This work is to facilitate the installation of underground infrastructure.

Traffic impact: Lane drops will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Road Construction – Glendale Drive

 

Location: Glendale Drive, from Cobequid Road to Chandler Drive

 

Date: Friday, Oct. 21 and Saturday, Oct. 22

 

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday

 

Work details: This work is related to road maintenance. This project supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

 

Traffic impact: Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are advised to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Road Construction – Quinpool Road

Location: Quinpool Road, between MacDonald Avenue and the Armdale Rotary

Date: Thursday, Oct. 20 and Friday, Oct. 21, 2022

Time: 12 noon to 1 p.m.

Work details: This work is to facilitate concrete being poured.

Traffic impact: Two way traffic will be maintained for the duration of the work.

Road Construction – Hammonds Plains Road

Location: Voyageur Way, from Hammonds Plains to Appaloosa Run

Date:​ Thursday, Oct. 20 to Monday, Oct. 31, 2022

Time: 24/7

Work details: This work is in support of a Halifax Water watermain extension.

Traffic impact: The work area will be closed for the duration of the work. A detour will be in effect. Motorists should expect delays and find alternative routes where possible.

Traffic Delay – Intersection of Jubilee Road and Oxford Street

Location: Intersection of Jubilee Road and Oxford Street

Date: Wednesday, October 19

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Work details: This work is related to underground utility work.

Traffic impact: The traffic lights at the intersection of Jubilee Road and Oxford Street will be shut off, with stop-and-go traffic, while work is underway. The sidewalk on the north side of Jubilee Road will be closed between Oxford and Cambridge streets. Traffic control personnel will be on-site to direct pedestrian and vehicle traffic around the work site.

Traffic Delay – Waverley Road

Location:​ Waverley Road, from Rocky Lake Drive to Rolling Hills Drive

Dates: ​ Monday, Oct. 17 and Tuesday, Oct. 18

Time:​ 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. each day.

Work details: This work is for pavement maintenance. This project supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact:​ Stop and go traffic will be in place during this work. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Traffic Delay – Cherry Brook Road

 

Location: Cherry Brook Road to Loon Lake Road

 

Date: Saturday, October 15

 

Time: 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

 

Details: Traffic delays will be in place to facilitate the Black Lives Matter- In This Together Society’s 5K Freedom Race Walk. For more information visit the race web page.

 

Traffic Impact: The race will leave the Black Cultural Centre and travel on Cherry Brook Road and Loon Lake Road. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Traffic Delay – Downtown Halifax

Location: Gottingen Street, to Brunswick, Carmichael and Argyle streets​

Date: Sunday, October 16

Time: 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Details: Road closures will be in place to facilitate the 40th annual Fallen Peace Officers Memorial Parade. For more information visit halifax.ca.

Traffic Impact: Traffic delays are expected as the parade travels through downtown Halifax. The parade will assemble at 1975 Gottingen Street and will impact Brunswick, Carmichael and Argyle streets. The parade will finish at Grand Parade via St. Paul’s Church driveway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible

Road Closure – Wyse Road

Location: Wyse Road, between Symonds Street and Boland Road

Date: Monday, Oct. 17 at 7 a.m. to Friday, Oct. 28 at 7 p.m.

Work details: This work is to support underground upgrades to storm water and wastewater infrastructure.

Traffic impact: Wyse Road, between Symonds Street and Boland Road, will be closed while work is underway. A signed detour route will be in place. The north sidewalk will remain open. Traffic control personnel will be on-site to direct vehicle and pedestrian traffic.

NEW WORK

PICTOU COUNTY: Trunk 4, Linacy

Trunk 4, from Frasers Mountain Road to Pine Tree Road, will be reduced to one lane until October 31 for repairs.

Signs are in place and drivers are encouraged to use caution.

CONTINUING WORK

ANNAPOLIS COUNTY: Brickton Bridge, Brickton

Brickton Bridge, on Mount Hanley Road, will be closed for repairs until Friday, December 16.

A detour is in place.

ANTIGONISH COUNTY: Highway 104, James River

Highway 104, westbound lane about one kilometre west of James River Interchange, Exit 30, is reduced to one lane for about one kilometre.

Twinning work continues until 2023.

Signs are in place and drivers are encouraged to use caution.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Burnett Bridge, Pine Grove

Burnett Bridge, over McLean Brook on Route 224 in Pine Grove, is closed until further notice.

Detour signs and a 30-tonne weight restriction are in place. All other trucks are to follow the posted truck route. The detour is via Saint Andrews River Road.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Old Truro Road, Tatamagouche

Old Truro Road, from Kennedy Hill intersection to the Cross Road in North River, is closed until further notice due to a large culvert failure.

A detour is in place.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Salmon River Bridge, Truro

Salmon River Bridge, on Highway 102 between exits 14 and 14A, is reduced to one lane northbound until October 31 due to work on the bridge decking.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place weekdays from sunrise to sunset.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Slade Road, Tatamagouche

Slade Road is closed between Lake Road and West Tatamagouche Road until further notice due to a bridge closure.

GUYSBOROUGH COUNTY: Route 344 (Main Street), Mulgrave

Route 344/Main Street traffic is being re-routed onto the newly installed detour bridge.

The entrance to Mill Street from Main Street is closed, and drivers should use an alternate route. Signs are in place.

The detour will remain in place until mid November.

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Highway 102, Bedford/Lower Sackville

Highway 102 from Exit 4A to Exit 4C, will have lane reductions and intermittent road closures on the northbound and southbound highway for the construction of the Highway 107-Highway 102 Interchange.

Highway 102 northbound and southbound, Highway 101, Bedford Highway, Bedford Bypass, Duke Street, Glendale Avenue and Sackville Drive will have intermittent road closures for blasting until June 30, 2023.

Traffic control will be on-site. Road closures for blasting will occur between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday to Thursday and from 9 a.m. to noon on Friday. Lane reductions will occur from sunrise to sunset Monday to Thursday and sunrise to noon on Friday.

HANTS COUNTY: Highway 101, Windsor

The eastbound off-ramp at Exit 6, Highway 101, is closed for the construction of a new interchange to downtown Windsor.

A detour is available via Exit 5A. The off-ramp will be closed until September 2023.

HANTS COUNTY: Hydes Bridge, Lantz

Hydes Bridge on Highway 277 is closed until further notice.

A detour is in place via Dutch Settlement Road, Elmsdale Road and Trunk 2. Signs are in place.

INVERNESS COUNTY: Dunmore Road, Dunmore

Dunmore Road, from one kilometre east of Trunk 19 easterly for 6.3 kilometres, is reduced to one lane for gravelling until November 30.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

LUNENBURG COUNTY: Indian Path Bridge, Bayport

Indian Path Bridge, Route 332, is closed for replacement until further notice.

A detour is in place.

PICTOU COUNTY: East River West Side Road, Eureka

The section between 6280 East River West Side Road and Churchville Road is closed until October 31, for the replacement of the Eureka Mills Bridge.

A detour is in place.

PICTOU COUNTY: Westville Road, New Glasgow

Westville Road at Highway 104 is closed nightly, Sunday through Thursday, from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Work continues until October 31. A detour will be in place and drivers should proceed with caution.

RICHMOND COUNTY: Port Royal Bridge, Isle Madame

Port Royal Bridge on Port Royal Road is closed until further notice. A detour is in place on MacEachern Road.

RICHMOND COUNTY: Trunk 4, Cleveland

Trunk 4, from Riverside Road easterly for about 7.1 kilometres, is reduced to one lane for repaving until Friday, October 21.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place weekdays from 6 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

SHELBURNE COUNTY: Highway 103, Jordan Falls

Highway 103, about 100 metres west of Exit 24, has alternating lane closures for rehabilitation work on Jordan Falls Bridge until October 31.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place weekdays from sunrise to sunset.

VICTORIA COUNTY: Highway 105

Highway 105, from 3.2 kilometres west of Trunk 30 easterly to 600 metres east of Route 312, is reduced to one lane for road work until October 31.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place weekdays from sunrise to sunset.
