Cumberland County Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit charge two men with firearms offences
The Cumberland County Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit (SCEU) has charged two men with firearms offences after a search warrant was executed in Springhill.
On October 12, 2022, as part of an ongoing investigation, members of the Cumberland County Integrated SCEU, with assistance from Cumberland County District RCMP, executed a search warrant at a home on Junction Rd. in Springhill. Two men were located in the home and safely arrested.
During the search, investigators located and seized a loaded rifle, a loaded shotgun, ammunition and edged weapons, including a home made “battle axe” and a machete.
Devan Keddy, 32, and Kursten Keddy, 25, both of Springhill, have been charged with:
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm (3 counts);
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing It’s Possession is Unauthorized (3 counts);
- Unsafe Storage of a Firearm (2 counts).
Devan Keddy has also been charged separately with Breach of Probation (2 counts) and Failure to Comply with Conditions of a Release Order (3 counts). He was remanded into custody and will appear in Amherst Provincial Court on October 24, 2022.
Kursten Keddy was released on conditions will appear in Amherst Provincial Court on January 9, 2023.
The investigation is ongoing and further charges are anticipated.
