Police charge a man and a youth in relation to dangerous driving and a break and enter

Police have charged a man and a youth in relation to dangerous driving and a break and enter that occurred in Bedford early this morning.

At approximately 2 a.m. officers responded to a report of two males breaking into vehicles on Shaunslieve Drive. As officers arrived, the suspects fled the area in a vehicle. Officers located the vehicle abandoned in the 900 block of the Bedford Highway and arrested one of the suspects a short distance away from the vehicle.

At approximately 4 a.m. officers responded to a break and enter in progress at a residence on Glenmont Avenue. Officers arrested a male youth a short distance away, who had been identified as the driver in the earlier incident, and recovered property stolen from the break and enter.

A 16-year-old youth is scheduled to appear in Halifax Youth Court today to face charges of:

  • Dangerous operation of a conveyance
  • Flight from police
  • Failure to comply with a court order
  • Break and enter
  • Mischief
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000

An 18-year-old man was released to appear in Halifax Provincial Court at a later date to face charges in relation to failing to obey the conditions of a youth court order.
