This red squirrel found himself entangled in some plastic netting, which was wrapped around his neck and one paw

We were able to catch him and remove the netting, and fortunately it had not caused any serious injuries.

All kinds of things we put in our yard can be dangerous for wildlife to encounter, as they can become seriously entangled in them. Outdoor recreational lights, sports nets, hammocks, garden netting and plastic trash can spell trouble for a host of wild animals from birds to deer if they become trapped or entangled while navigating through our neighborhoods.

Remember to put away any sports or recreational equipment when not in use, and try to use fencing material that is wildlife friendly.
