Cumberland County District RCMP investigating another suspicious fire

Cumberland County District RCMP is investigating another suspicious fire that in River Phillip.

On September 9, 2022, at approximately 2:20 a.m., Cumberland County District RCMP and the Collingwood Volunteer Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire at an old church on Wyvern Rd. in River Phillip. RCMP officers learned that the structure was not occupied at the time of the fire. The fire department was able to extinguish the fire and the structure is a complete loss. The fire is believed to be suspicious and RCMP officers have secured the scene as they await assistance from the Nova Scotia Fire Marshal’s Office.

The is the sixth suspicious fire in the Collingwood/River Phillip area since August 5. The investigations related to each fire remain ongoing and RCMP investigators continue to gather evidence and information.

RCMP investigators are releasing video footage related to this most recent fire in River Philip, in the hopes that it will generate new leads in the fire investigations.
