Lunenburg District RCMP arrests man in incident involving the dangerous operation of a vessel
Lunenburg District RCMP has arrested a man after responding to an incident involving the dangerous operation of a vessel at the Chester Yacht Club.
On September 1, 2022, at approximately 7:15 p.m., Lunenburg District RCMP responded to a report of a vessel driving recklessly in the harbour at the Chester Yacht Club. Witnesses observed several boats being struck and damaged by the vessel as it was leaving the harbour. The vessel fled the scene of the collisions. A description of the vessel operator was provided to RCMP officers.
Later that evening, RCMP officers located the man at a home in Marriotts Cove. The 46-year-old Marriotts Cove man, was safely arrested and transported to the Bridgewater Detachment where he was held in custody overnight.
The man was released from custody this morning and will be facing charges of Dangerous Operation of a Vessel and Failing to Remain at the Scene of an Accident (3 counts). He will appear in court at a later date.
Alcohol was believed to be a factor in the collisions and the investigation is ongoing.
