Police charge man with fraud Over $5,000

Police have charged a man in relation to a fraud that occurred in Dartmouth earlier this month.

On May 18, police responded to a fraud in progress at a business on John Savage Avenue in Dartmouth. A man was at the business fraudulently representing himself as a contractor with a First Nations community. The man was arrested on scene without incident.

Through the investigation, police learned the man had previously attended on multiple occasions and fraudulently obtained tools valued at over $20,000.

Scott Lee Gray, 47, is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court at a later date to face charges of:

  • Fraud over $5,000
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

Investigators with the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division Financial Crime Unit believe there may be others who are victims of this fraud and are encouraging anyone who believes they might be a victim to contact police and the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at​ 1-888-495-8501​ or online at​ https://www.antifraudcentre-centreantifraude.ca/index-eng.htm.
