Water Service Advisory Update – Flushing Completed – Lake Major Water Supply System (except Burnside)

Halifax Water would like to advice customers serviced by the Lake Major water supply system, that crews have now completed hydrant flushing throughout Dartmouth, Cole Harbour, Eastern Passage, North Preston and Westphal.

We would like to thank all impacted customers for their patience and apologize for any inconveniences as a result of this necessary work to maintain high-quality water throughout the system.

While this work is now concluded, Halifax Water is advising customers in these areas that there is still a potential for discoloured water.

Customers who experience discoloured water should run the COLD water at one faucet for about 10 minutes. You should see the water clear. Do not use the hot water faucet since this will draw discoloured water into your hot water heater/tank, which could make the problem worse. If the water fails to clear after 10 minutes, wait for a few hours and again try running only the cold water. To learn more about discoloured water, visit www.halifaxwater.ca/discoloured-water.

To ensure the safety of our communities and our staff, please maintain a safe distance when Halifax Water staff or contractors are working in your area.
