West Amherst woman arrested for passing counterfeit money
Cumberland District RCMP have arrested a 21-year-old woman from West Amherst for paying with counterfeit money in the Amherst area.
On January 25, a taxi company and a hotel in the Amherst area reported receiving counterfeit Canadian $100 bills in the course of conducting business.
Members of the Cumberland District RCMP and Cumberland District Street Crime Enforcement Unit (CDSCEU) executed a warrant at a hotel and arrested the accused without incident on January 26.
The suspect is facing two counts of Passing Counterfeit Money. She is scheduled to appear in Amherst Provincial Court on March 15, 2021.
Anyone in the area who handles currency in the course of their work should be on the lookout for suspicious currency. If you unknowingly accept counterfeit currency as legal tender, you cannot be reimbursed. Please contact police if you become aware of counterfeit currency.
