Police investigate Vehicle Collision & Fire – Halifax

At 12:58 a.m., Halifax Regional Police received a report of a single vehicle on its roof and on fire with a driver trapped inside at Upper Water Street / Valour Way Halifax.​ A Halifax Transit bus driver and an HRP officer broke a window and pulled the driver out just before the vehicle exploded.​ HRM Fire & Emergency Service extinguished the fire.​ Officers have confirmed the driver was only occupant.​ The driver sustained life threatening injuries and was transported to the Hospital by EHS Paramedics.​ ​

Alcohol and speed are is believed to be factors in the collision.​ Investigators from Patrol, Accident Investigation Section and the Forensic Identification Section are conducting the investigation, which is in the early stages.​ Impaired driving charges are expected.
