Yesterday, January 31, 2022, at approximately 9:30 pm, the Truro Police Service responded to a call at the Hub House Emergency Shelter on Prince Street regarding a male who had smashed the exterior windows at the shelter and assaulted volunteers before fleeing the scene in a stolen vehicle.

Responding officers quickly located the suspect, who abandoned the vehicle a few streets away, and he was taken into custody.

Jason Douglas Heim, 30 years old, from the Truro area, has been charged with multiple offences, including:

Assault causing bodily harm

2x Assault

Property damage

Break and Enter

Theft of a motor vehicle

Impaired Driving

Dangerous Operation of a vehicle

Flight from police

Resist arrest
