NS SPCA Adoptable Highlight – Bella

You will fall in love with Bella, an 8-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier mix. She has a special adoption fee and will require a home with no small animals.

“I may not be winning any marathons any time soon but I am sure to win the best snuggle award! If you are looking for a dog to lounge around the house while you work than I may be the girl for you.

Do not get me wrong. I sure do love to go for walks and play with my toys, but in my older age I have acquired some medical concerns that make it harder for me to go on hikes and run around. Not to worry! I am still a very happy girl and can motor along really well. They tell me I am an office favorite and I enjoy greeting everyone as they walk in!

If I sound like I could make a great addition to your family, please keep reading below!”

Bella has been recently diagnosed with arthritis of the hips and hip dysplasia. Bella does require pain medication when needed, this may increase to daily if her mobility declines. With the medication she will require yearly bloodwork to ensure it is not causing negative effects on her liver. Bella will also require to keep her weight down so that it can keep the strain off of her hips.

Bella is suitable in a home with children 12 years of age or older, this is in part due to her painful joints and low activity level.
