Police issue 60 tickets for speeding, unsafe equipment and other vehicle-related offences

Halifax Regional Police issued 60 tickets for speeding, vehicle inspection and other motor vehicle-related offences yesterday.

Members from the HRP Traffic Unit issued 60 summary offence tickets: 15 for speeding, 15 for no insurance, 20 for invalid inspections and unsafe equipment, including tires with insufficient tread, and 10 for other offences.

With changing weather conditions, it is increasingly important to have properly functioning equipment on your vehicle, especially the tires, for optimal road safety. Throughout the month of November members of the Traffic Unit will be focusing on violations including driving too fast for conditions and defective equipment such as tires and wipers.

HRP continues to address traffic safety issues and educate citizens on the rules of the road. We all have a role to play in keeping our roads safe. If you see someone driving dangerously, report it to police by calling 911.
