(Update) Late night fire – Quinpool Road

Emergency crews continue to work the scene in the 6300 block of Quinpool Road after a late night fire destroyed a building.

The building continues to smoke as a demolition plan is set in place.

Fire – Traffic Blocked in both directions on Quinpool Road, Halifax

At 12:03 a.m., Halifax Regional Police and HRM Fire & Emergency responded to an active structure fire in the 6300 block of Quinpool Road.

No one was injured.  HRM Fire & Emergency crews are still on scene.

Traffic Blocked: Both directions of Quinpool Road between Preston Street and Oxford Street will remain blocked for an extended period of time until fire crews and hoses are cleared from the roadways.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about this incident to call police at 902-490-5016.  Anonymous tips can be sent to Crime Stoppers by calling toll-free 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), submitting a secure web tip at www.crimestoppers.ns.ca.

A late night fire in the 6300 block of Quinpool Road had emergency crews busy well into the early hours.

Overnight Fire on Quinpool Road

At 12:04 a.m., #hfxfirefighters responded to smoke and alarms coming from a mixed-use building in the 6000 block of Quinpool Road.

Our members from Station 2 (South End) arrived to find a working fire and began suppression efforts.

The call was quickly upgraded to a second alarm, bringing in additional resources from across the city. In total, 35 fire fighters were on scene at various points throughout the night.

Crews remain on scene this morning—please avoid the area.
