Road Construction – Burnside Drive

Location: Burnside Drive, from Akerley Boulevard to Wright Avenue

Date: Thursday, Sept. 16

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Work details: This work is for pavement rehabilitation. This project supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: Lane drops will be in place during this work. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Traffic Delay – Hammonds Plains Road

Location: Hammonds Plains Road, at Highway 102.

Date: Wednesday, Sept. 15 to Monday, Nov. 15.

Time: The traffic delay will be in place 24/7, until Nov. 15.

Work details: This delay is related to provincial work taking place on Highway 102.

Traffic impact: Barriers will be in place for the duration of the project. Two-way traffic will be maintained at all times. The existing sidewalk will be modified to maintain pedestrian traffic. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.​ ​

Road Construction – Parkland Drive

Location: Parkland Drive, between Lancaster Drive and Bethany Way

Date: Thursday, Sept. 16 ​

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Work Details: Installing a natural gas service connection at 210 Parkland Drive.

Traffic Impact: The sidewalk will be closed during work, but two-way traffic will be maintained.

Road Construction – Broad Street

Location: Broad Street, between Gary Martin Drive and Larry Uteck Blvd.

Note: In order to accommodate work, Larry Uteck Boulevard between Bluewater Road and Brookline Drive​ will be reduced to one lane.

Date: Thursday, Sept. 16 to Friday, Sept. 24

Time: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Work details: This work will include street work and excavation.

Traffic Impact:​Stop-and-go traffic, as well as lane drops, will be in place during this work. The sidewalk will also be closed during this work. Traffic safety personnel will direct motorists, pedestrians and cyclists.

Road Construction – Morris Street

Location: Morris Street from South Park to Lower Water streets

Date: ​ Wednesday, September 15 to Thursday, September 16

Time​ ​ 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Work details: This work is for pavement rehabilitation. This project supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: There will be stop and go traffic in place while work is underway.​ Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Location: South Park Street, from Inglis Street to South Street

Date: Wednesday, September 15 ​

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. ​

Road Closure – Cork Street


Location: 
Cork Street, between Windsor Street to Dublin Street

Date: Wednesday, Sept. 15 to Wednesday, Sept. 29

Time: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily

Work details: ​ This work is This work is for pavement rehabilitation.​ This project supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact:​ The road will be closed to all but local traffic.​ A marked detour will be in place. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Location: Larry Uteck Boulevard, between Starboard and Southgate Drives

Date: ​ Wednesday, Sept. 15 to Thursday, Sept. 16

Time​ ​9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. daily

Night Time Road Construction – Bedford Highway


Location: 
Bedford Highway, from Southgate Drive to Larry Uteck Boulevard

Date: Tuesday, Sept. 14 to Thursday, Sept. 16

Time: 7 p.m. daily to 6 a.m. the following morning

Traffic Delay – Alderney Drive

Location: Alderney Drive, between Portland Street and Prince Street

Date: Wednesday, Sept. 15

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Work details: Utility work related to Nova Scotia Power

Traffic impact: Two-way traffic will be maintained while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.​ ​

Road Construction – Highway 7

Location: Highway 7, between Hillsboro Drive and Cherry Brook Road

Date: Monday, Sept. 13 to Monday, Oct. 11

Time: Weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Work details: This work will replace asphalt sidewalk and curb portions.

Traffic Impact: Work will begin on the outbound lane, and then switch to the inbound lane once completed. Lane drops with traffic control devices will be in place. Sidewalks will also be closed during construction.

Road Construction – Herring Cove Road

Location: Herring Cove Road, from Glenora Avenue to Old Sambro Road

Date: ​ Monday, Sept. 13 to Friday, Oct. 1

Time: Weekdays from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Work details: This work is for pavement rehabilitation.​ This project supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: Lane drops will be in place during this work. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Road Closure – Agricola Street: Open Street Sundays

Location: Agricola Street, between Almon and Cunard streets.

Date: Sunday, Sept. 12.

Time: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Work details: This closure is for Open Street Sundays – a community-led initiative, organized by the Planning and Design Centre which aims to open streets to a greater variety of transportation modes. The event is meant to encourage people to enjoy the Halifax region in a new way by walking, biking and moving around safely and comfortably on a two-kilometer route.For further event information, visit https://www.facebook.com/OpenStreetshfx/.

Traffic impact: Agricola Street, between Almon and Cunard streets, will be closed to motorists. Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained. Traffic flow will be maintained through North Street. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Road Construction – Lower Water Street

Location: Lower Water Street, between Morris Street and Bishops Street

Date: Saturday, Sept. 11 and Sunday, Sept. 12

Time: 7 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 11 until 6 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 12

Work details: This work will complete waterline work to the construction side on 1325 Lower Water Street.

Traffic Impact: This section of Lower Water Street will be closed, but the sidewalk will remain open. Flags and a street detour will be in place to direct traffic.

Road Construction – Brunswick Street

Location: Brunswick Street, between Cogswell Street and Duke Street

Date: Saturday, Sept. 11

Time: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Work details: This will be a crane lift of mechanical equipment to the roof of 1881 Brunswick Street.

Traffic Impact: This section of Brunswick Street will be closed. Traffic personnel will be on site to guide local traffic through to maintain access to underground parking areas. The sidewalk on the west side will remain open but will be closed on the east side. The bike lane will be closed.

Construction during COVID-19:​ Construction crews will strive to maintain physical distancing measures, however, residents may see workers within two metres of each other while completing certain tasks which aligns with the exemptions outlined in the Provincial Health Order. If approaching construction crews, residents are asked to maintain at least two metres of physical distancing.

**** Provincial Media Release

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Dillmans Bridge, Meaghers Grant

Dillmans Bridge on Wyse Road is closed until further notice. A detour is available via Old Guysborough Road. Signs are in place.

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Peggys Point Road, Peggy’s Cove

Peggys Point Road, from the Visitor Information Centre west for about one kilometre, is reduced to one lane for roadwork until Wednesday, Sept. 15.

Work to take place from sunrise to sunset.

HANTS COUNTY: Highway 102, Lantz

A temporary detour is in place on Highway 102 north of Exit 8, Elmsdale, for the replacement of the Nine Mile River bridges, northbound and southbound. This work is part of ongoing construction for the new Lantz Interchange and Connector Road.

The detour has a reduced speed limit of 80 kilometres an hour and is expected to be in place until Wednesday, Sept. 15.

The Lantz Interchange and Connector Road is expected to be complete and open to traffic by Sunday, Oct. 31.

HANTS COUNTY: Hydes Bridge, Lantz

Hydes Bridge on Highway 277 is closed until further notice.

A detour is in place via Dutch Settlement Road, Elmsdale Road and Trunk 2. Signs are in place.

LUNENBURG COUNTY: Highway 103

Highway 103, between exits 9 and 10, has alternating lane closures for roadwork until Thursday, Sept. 30.

Work takes place 24 hours per day.

ANTIGONISH COUNTY: Highway 104, James River

Highway 104, westbound lane about one kilometre west of James River Interchange, Exit 30, will be reduced to one lane for approximately one kilometre.

Twinning work continues until 2023.

Signage is in place and drivers are encouraged to use caution.

DIGBY COUNTY: Joggins Bridge, Highway 101

Joggins Bridge, between exits 25 and 26, will be reduced to one lane with a reduced speed limit of 80 kilometres an hour due to bridge rehabilitation. Work will be ongoing until Sunday, Oct 31.

Traffic control is in place.
