Police lay over 150 charges against two men in relation to 23 incidents

Investigators in the General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division have charged two men in relation to 23 incidents that occurred throughout the Halifax region over the last month.

On July 8, officers with the Quick Response Unit, with assistance from East Division patrol officers, arrested two men in Dartmouth in relation to ongoing investigations in to multiple break and enters, thefts from vehicles and vehicle thefts in Dartmouth, Bedford, Halifax and Lower Sackville.

Chad Stephen Clarke, 28, is facing 92 charges:

  • ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ 355(a) Possession of stolen property over $5,000 (x 2)
  • ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ 333.1(1) Theft of motor vehicle (x 5)

Michael Tyrone Lapointe, 25, is facing 67 charges:

  • ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ 348(1)(a) Break and enter with intent (x 2)
  • ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ 334(b) Theft under $5,000 (x 20)
  • ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ 355(b) Possession of stolen property under $5,000 (x 20)
  • ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ 355(a) Possession of stolen property over $5,000 (x 1)
  • ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ 333.1(1) Theft of motor vehicle (x 3)

Both men were scheduled to appear in court yesterday.

Investigators ask that anyone who has had property stolen from their homes or vehicles to report it to police.
