Weekly Traffic Advisories (May 21st)

Note:  Each week the local listings are expanded and updated.  During the week new and updated tasks are added.  Every week a new post is started with fresh info but previous posts may be still valid.

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Beaver Harbour Road, Beaver Harbour

Beaver Harbour Road, from Trunk 7 southerly for three kilometres, is reduced to one lane for road work until Tuesday, Aug. 31.

Work takes place from sunrise to sunset.

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Dillmans Bridge, Meaghers Grant

Dillmans Bridge, on Wyse Road in Meaghers Grant, is closed until further notice. A detour is available via Old Guysborough Road. Signs are in place.

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Peggys Point Road, Peggy’s Cove

Peggys Point Road, from the Visitor Information Centre west for about one kilometre, is reduced to one lane for road work until Wednesday, June 30.

Work to take place from sunrise to sunset.

HANTS COUNTY: Highway 102, Lantz

A temporary detour is in place on Highway 102 north of Exit 8, Elmsdale, for the replacement of the Nine Mile River bridges, northbound and southbound. This work is part of ongoing construction for the new Lantz Interchange and Connector Road.

The detour has a reduced speed limit of 80 kilometres an hour and is expected to be in place until mid-summer.

The Lantz Interchange and Connector Road is expected to be complete and open to traffic by fall.

ANTIGONISH COUNTY: Trunk 4, Broadway/Highway 104 Overpass

Due to ongoing twinning on Highway 104, there is a road closure on Trunk 4 at Broadway/Highway 104 Overpass until Friday, May 28. Local traffic can access Broadway via Exit 27 or Exit 29 from Highway 104.

Signs and traffic control will be in place.

LUNENBURG COUNTY: Highway 103

Highway 103, between Exit 9 and 10, has alternating lane closures for road work until Wednesday, June 30.

Work takes place from sunrise to sunset.

LUNENBURG COUNTY: Highway 103, Camperdown School Road, Camperdown

Highway 103, from Camperdown School Road, Camperdown, to Queens County line, has alternating lane closures for repaving and upgrading until Saturday, July 31.

Traffic controls consist of stop and go traffic. Work takes place from sunrise to sunset.

PICTOU COUNTY: Highway 104, Eastbound Lanes

Highway 104, eastbound lanes between Exit 20 and 21, is reduced to one lane for road work until Tuesday, August 31.

Work takes place from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Road Closure – Micmac Street​

Location: Micmac Street, from Edgewood Avenue to Bayers Road

Date: Friday, May 28, 2021

Time: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. ​

Work details: Installation of a new storm sewer. This work is part of the Bayers Road Transit Priority Corridor project.

Traffic impact: Marked detours and barricades will be in place while work is underway. Local traffic access will be maintained. The sidewalks will not be impacted by this road closure. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Road Construction – Breeze Drive

Location: Breeze Drive from Montebello Drive to Waverley Road

Date:​ Wednesday, May 26

Time: Noon to 4 p.m.

Work details: Work is being completed for pavement rehabilitation.

Traffic impact: Lane drops will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.​

Traffic Delay – North Street

Location: North Street, near the intersection at North and Agricola streets

Date: Tuesday, May 25

Time: Crews will be on site from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Work details: This work is in preparation for the restoration of gas lines.

Traffic impact: Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway. Motorists are advised to take alternate routes whenever possible.

The north sidewalk on North Street, from Robie to Agricola streets, will be temporarily closed. Traffic control personnel will be on site to direct pedestrian traffic around the work site as necessary.

Location:​ Duke Street from Brunswick Street to Upper Water Street

Date:​ Tuesday, May 25

Time: ​ 9 am to noon​

Work details:​ This work is related to road rehabilitation

Traffic impact: Lane drops will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.​

Location:​ Prince Street from Lower Water to Brunswick streets

Date:​ Tuesday, May 25

Time:​ Noon to 4 p.m.

Work details:​ ​ This work is related to road rehabilitation.

Traffic impact: Lane drops will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.​

Road Construction – Massachusetts Avenue

Location:​ Massachusetts Avenue, from Stanley Street to Columbus Street

Date: Tuesday, May 25

Time: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.​

Work details: This work is related to road rehabilitation

Traffic impact: Lane drops will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.​

Road Construction – Commodore Drive

Location: Commodore Drive from Eileen Stubbs Avenue to Highway 118

Date:​ Monday, May 24

Time: 9 a.m. to noon​

Work details: This work is to facilitate road repairs.

Traffic impact: Lane drops will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.​

Traffic Delay – Prince Albert Road

Location: Intersection of Prince Albert Road and Glenwood Avenue

Date: Tuesday, May 25 to Friday, May 28

Time: Crews will be on-site from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day

Work details: This work is to facilitate the installation of new gas lines​ by Heritage Gas.

Traffic impact: Two lanes of traffic will be maintained on Prince Albert Road at all times. Glenwood Avenue will be restricted to right turns only while the gas line is being installed at the intersection. Stop-and-go traffic will be in place for gas line work on Glenwood Avenue. Motorists are advised to take alternate routes whenever possible.

The south sidewalk on Prince Albert Road will be temporarily closed. Traffic control personnel will be on site to direct pedestrian traffic around the work site as necessary.

Location:​ Massachusetts Avenue, from Stanley Street to Columbus Street

Date: Tuesday, May 25

Time: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.​

Construction during COVID-19:​

Construction crews will strive to maintain physical distancing measures, however, residents may see workers within two metres of each other while completing certain tasks which aligns with the exemptions outlined in the Provincial Health Order. If approaching construction crews, residents are asked to maintain at least two metres of physical distancing.
