UPDATED: Parking permits for all zones, including for the new commuter parking zone 15, will be sold online beginning Monday, May 17 for the month of June. Residents can purchase and manage parking permits using the new online parking permit portal.

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents of the following changes to on-street parking, including adjustments to parking rates, the removal of the four-hour parking time cap, as well as the addition of a commuter parking zone 15:

  • Parking rate adjustments: Beginning Tuesday, May 4, new hourly rates within each zone will be in place. These new rates will reflect actual time-of day demand, based on data collected from the recently adopted Integrated Parking Technology Solution. The rate changes can be found here.

  • Removal of four-hour parking time cap: Beginning Monday, May 3, drivers will no longer be limited to four hours per zone per day.

  • Commuter parking zone 15 (between Acadia Street and Mount Hope Avenue): Permits will be sold online beginning Saturday, May 15 for the month of June. Residents can purchase and manage parking permits using the new online parking permit portal.

Based on feedback received from parking system users and stakeholders, these changes were recently approved by Regional Council in an effort to make improvements to the parking system.
