Stranded motorists located by Victoria County District RCMP

On April 17, 2021, at approximately 3:45 p.m., Victoria County District RCMP received a call about a couple on a fishing trip who had gotten their vehicle stuck on Highland Rd., approximately 45 km into the Highlands. The couple had begun walking toward Hunter’s Mountain when the weather became poor, and they were not adequately dressed.

In an effort to locate the couple, members of the Cheticamp, Ingonish and Baddeck RCMP Detachments attended the area and worked together. The couple was located at approximately 5:20 p.m. and was driven out of the Highlands by RCMP members. The members assisted the couple in finding lodging for the evening in Baddeck, before they could return to the Highlands the next day and make arrangements to retrieve their vehicle.

The collaboration between three separate RCMP Detachments was instrumental in locating the couple and bringing them to safety.
