Police Investigate Weapons Call (Shooting) – Halifax

At approximately 5:55 p.m., Halifax Regional Police responded to a report of possible gun shots in the area of Barrington Street and Richmond Street, Halifax.​ A dark coloured sedan was observed leaving the area at high rate of speed toward the MacDonald Bridge.​

Multiple patrol officers and members of the Emergency Response Team responded and confirmed a shooting had taken place.​ At 6:15 p.m., the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital reported a 25-year-old male with non-life-threatening gun shot wound arrived at the hospital, which has gone into lock down.​

There is no suspect description currently.​ ​

Officers are currently on scene and at the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital.​ ​ We ask that people avoid the area of Barrington Street and Richmond Street, Halifax.

Investigators with the General Investigation Section and the Forensic Identification Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division are conducting the investigation.​ The investigation is in its preliminary stages and is ongoing.​
