Halifax District RCMP recently responded to a 911 call about a pig that was loose on Highway 357 in Meaghers Grant.
When our officers arrived, they found “Mia” wreaking havoc by running down the highway and chasing motorists who stopped to check on her. Despite Cst. Barter’s best efforts to make friends, Mia charged at him and managed to land a few nips on his shins.
Thankfully, with help from a nearby homeowner, members were able to corral Mia into a makeshift pen and track down her owner, who confirmed that not only had Mia travelled 2.5 km from home, but this was her second successful escape that day!
Mia is now home safe and sound, and her owner has promised to build a more secure enclosure to house this highly skilled escape artist. All in a day’s work!
