Police continue to investigate the murder of Ronald Jack Henderson

Monday marks the 35th anniversary of the murder of Ronald Jack Henderson and the Special Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division continues to investigate the case.

On April 5, 1986, police responded to a report of an injured person at 90 Withrod Drive in Halifax. Officers located Ronald suffering from life-threatening-injuries, and he was transported to hospital where he later died.

Ronald had been working as a taxi driver with Armdale Taxi, and at the time, he picked up two passengers on Herring Cove Road in Halifax. Investigators believe an altercation occurred in front of 90 Withrod Drive. The passengers took Ronald’s taxi and left Ronald seriously injured by the side of the road. Ronald’s taxi​ was later located abandoned in a local school parking lot.

Investigators believe there are people who have information about Ronald’s murder. We hope that the passage of time will encourage someone to come forward with what they know; it is never too late and what might seem like an insignificant detail may help progress the investigation.

Ronald’s case is part of Nova Scotia Department of Justice Rewards for Major Unsolved Crimes Program which offers cash rewards of up to $150,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for specified major unsolved crimes. Callers must contact the Rewards Program at 1-888-710-9090, must provide their name and contact information, and may be called to testify in court. All calls will be recorded. The amount of the award will be based on the investigative value of the information provided.
