Hit and run collision caused by impaired driver
On February 13, at approximately 12:05 a.m., Indian Brook RCMP responded to a report of a pedestrian who had been struck by a vehicle on Church St. in Indian Brook.
When officers responded, they located a 51-year-old woman from Indian Brook with serious injuries. The victim was reported to have been walking home when she was struck by a vehicle that left the scene. The victim was transported to hospital by EHS.
RCMP members were able to locate a damaged vehicle matching the description a short distance away. The driver, a 35-year-old man from Indian Brook, was arrested without incident for Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle. He provided breath samples that were twice the legal limit.
The driver is facing the following charges:
– Impaired Operation of a conveyance causing bodily harm
– Impaired Operation of a conveyance over 80mg% causing bodily harm
– Failure to stop after an accident causing bodily harm
He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear virtually in Truro Provincial Court on May 3, 2021.
The investigation is ongoing.
