Common name: Draw-Tite and Reese Towpower Ball and Pintle Hook Trailer Hitches

Product description: This recall involves Draw-Tite and Reese Towpower brand trailer hitches only purchased during November 2019 to August 2020. Some of the ball and pintle combination products affected by this recall include a date code, that is found on the mounting side of the base.

The following products are included in the recall:
Brand Part Number Part Description Date Code
Draw-Tite 63011 Pintle Hook with 2 inch Ball SM011941 to SM012023
Draw-Tite 63012 Pintle Hook with 2 -5/16 inch Ball SM011941 to SM012023

Reese Towpower 74116 Pintle Hook with 2 inch Ball Not applicable
Reese Towpower 74117 Pintle Hook with 2-5/16 inch Ball Not applicable

Hazard identified: An out-of-position pivot hole in the product base creates the potential for the pintle hook to release and the towed vehicle to separate, increasing the risk of a crash. As of January 27, 2021, the company has received one report of a towed vehicle separating in Canada with vehicle damage to the towing vehicle, and no reports of injuries.
