Five Mile River man charged with child pornography and sexual interference offences

The RCMP/HRP Integrated Special Victim Section have arrested a Five Mile River man for child pornography and sexual interference offences.

In late November 2020, an investigation began by Halifax District RCMP and the RCMP/HRP Integrated Sexual Assault Investigation Team (SAIT) following a report of a man possessing child pornography. On December 16, 2020, the RCMP searched a home in Five Mile River, assisted by the Halifax Regional Police (HRP) Digital Forensics Unit, RCMP Provincial Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit and East Hants RCMP.

Colin Wesley Pynn, 42, was arrested at a home in Five Mile River on December 16 without incident. He is schedule to appear in Shubenacadie Provincial Court on March 1 for the following charges:

  • Possession of Child Pornography
  • Making Child Pornography
  • Sexual Interference

In Nova Scotia it is mandatory for citizens to report suspected child pornography. This means that anyone who encounters child pornography material or recordings must report it to the police. Failing to report suspicious activity and materials could result in penalties similar to failure to report child abuse set out in the Child and Family Services Act. The RCMP encourages citizens to be a voice for children who are victims of sexual exploitation by reporting any suspected offences to your local police or by using Canada’s National tipline for reporting online sexual exploitation of children at www.cybertip.ca.
