Suspicious death deemed a homicide​ and victim’s name released

The suspicious death of a man who was found deceased on December 8 at an address in Halifax has been deemed a homicide, and police are releasing the victim’s name.

At approximately 3:10 p.m. Halifax Regional Police responded to a weapons complaint at 5578 Morris Street in Halifax.​ Officers located a man inside the residence suffering from life-threatening injuries. He was transported to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The Medical Examiner Service has conducted an autopsy and ruled the death a homicide. Police are now in a position to identify the victim as 61-year-old Donald Scott McKay of Halifax.

Officers also located a 71-year-old man inside the residence who had suffered injuries and was transported to hospital.

At this time, investigators do not believe that this was a random incident.

The investigation is ongoing, and police are asking anyone with information about Donald’s murder to call police at 902-490-5016.
