Taxi driver​ charged following over $20,000​ theft from client

East Hants RCMP​ has charged​ a​ taxi driver​ from Lower Sackville​ with Theft over $5,000.

On November 23 police​ received a report that​ the accused​ had been driving a taxi in the East Hants area stole the client’s bank card and​ gained access to the client’s PIN #. He used that information​ to steal​ more than $20,000 from the victim over a period of time.

On December 2, police charged Rodney Bryan McCarthy, 57, with Theft over $5,000, and Uttering Threats related to the victim of the theft. McCarthy was released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in Shubenacadie Provincial Court on January 18, 2021.​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​

Investigators​ believe there may be additional victims.
