It is anticipated that the Emera Oval will open by mid-December, weather and ice conditions permitting.
As with all aspects of COVID-19, the following is subject to change depending on public health regulations.
A final announcement of the Oval reopening, as well as COVID-19 operational plans will be released closer to the opening date.
Hours of operation:
Public skates times are expected to begin at the Emera Oval by mid-December, weather and ice conditions permitting. Group booking and equipment loans, including skates, helmets, and skate helpers will not be available until further notice.
A reminder to residents that as per the provincial public health order, non-medical face masks are required in all indoor public places, including hallways and washrooms.
Helmet requirements:
CSA-approved multi-impact hockey helmets are mandatory for all children 12 year of age and under. Others are encouraged to wear a helmet, for their own safety.
How do I get to the Emera Oval?
The Emera Oval is located on the Halifax North Common at the corner of North Park Street and Cogswell Street.
Use Halifax Transit to get to the Emera Oval. Plan your route using Google Transit – a free public transit trip planner that integrates Halifax Transit routes, schedules, and stops data into Google Maps. Can I borrow equipment at the Emera Oval?
Equipment loans, including skates, helmets, and skate helpers will not be available until further notice.
What amenities are available at the Emera Oval?
- Pavillion building with indoor washrooms
- Please note that the skate rental area and indoor warming room are both closed until further notice.
Is the Emera Oval Accessible?
Currently accessibility for visitors to the Emera Oval includes:
- Accessible parking (on Cogswell Street)
- One accessible washroom
- Wheelchairs allowed on concrete/ice (in outside lane only)
