Volunteers from HSAR tackle the elements to check on the vulnerable

Health And Wellness Traffic & Weather

During bitter cold spells or snow and rainstorms, volunteers from Halifax Search and Rescue have been out in the elements checking on the welfare of those living in homeless camps throughout the HRM.

“We definitely provide blankets, food, warm beverages, and drives to warming centres when needed.”

The members are checking on the residents health and needs and can provide first-aid and notify first responders of serious concerns such as medical needs.

This winter has seen fluctuating weather with both record highs and lows.
