“Today in 1812, the Firewards ordered the following equipment for the town of Halifax, which would be used by the newly appointed “Fire-Men” (future members of the Axe Fire Company): 10 fire hooks, 10 chains, 10 ropes, 3 34 foot ladders, 12 axes, and 6 saws.”
