Public Service Announcement Municipality enhances digital services with expansion of public wifi

News

The Halifax Regional Municipality will better meet the needs of residents, businesses and visitors with the expansion of public WiFi service.

Public WiFi service is now available at the Emera Oval, Halifax Public Gardens Horticultural Hall, Lacewood Bus Terminal, Bridge Bus Terminal, Halifax Ferry Terminal, Alderney Ferry Terminal and Alderney Theatre.

The municipal public WiFi initiative, approve by Regional Council in February 2017, builds on a foundation of currently existing public WiFi locations aimed at increasing economic activity and providing both residents and visitors with expanded connectivity. The implementation of these expansion sites was based on municipal needs and in alignment with the areas identified as part of the roadmap and feasibility evaluation by Bell Aliant.

Municipal public WiFi is a managed service, meaning it is provided entirely by an external service provider, not municipal staff.

Bell Aliant is responsible for monitoring and responding to all questions and concerns regarding connectivity or access issues. Municipal public WiFi has a 24/7/365 support desk available to all users. The toll-free number is 1-844-376-WIFI or (1-844-376-9434)
