Police charge Dartmouth man in relation to two recent armed robberies

On​ June 12, 2020 at approximately 12:45 p.m. members of the Halifax Regional Police patrol division arrested a 51-year-old Dartmouth man in relation to two recent armed robberies. The incidents had been investigated by the Halifax Regional Police/ RCMP Integrated General Investigation Division.

At 4:41 p.m. on May 30th, 2020, officers responded to a report of a robbery at the Irving Circle K Gas Station located at 10 Highfield Park Drive, Dartmouth. ​ A male entered the Gas Station and produced a knife to the female employee, threatened her and demanded money. The suspect left with an amount of money and fled on foot. The employee was not injured.

On June 2nd, 2020 at approximately 3:35 p.m. Halifax Regional Police received a report of a robbery that had just occurred at the Petro Canada station located at 240 Victoria Road, Dartmouth. A man entered the store and threatened a female staff member with a knife and demanded money. The man then fled on foot toward Albro Lake Road with an amount of money, leaving the weapon behind. The clerk was not injured.

Roy Edwin Hawes of Dartmouth was arrested without incident on Barrington Street in Halifax.​ He has been charged with two counts each of robbery, contrary to section 344 of the criminal code and ​ possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, contrary to section 88 (1) of the criminal code. He has been remanded into custody and will appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court next week.
