Nova Scotia SPCA Secures Animal and Shelter Services Contract from the Halifax Regional Municipality

The Nova Scotia SPCA was awarded a three-year contract to provide Animal​ and Shelter Services to the Halifax Regional Municipality beginning May 1, 2020.

The municipality awarded a three-year contract with the option to renew for an additional two years to the Nova Scotia SPCA. The SPCA is the largest provider of shelter, bylaw, and animal control enforcement in Nova Scotia serving 20 municipalities from Yarmouth to Cape Breton.

“We are pleased to bring the extensive experience of the SPCA to support the Halifax Regional Municipality through the Animal and Shelter Services contract,” says Elizabeth Murphy, CEO for the Nova Scotia SPCA. “Hope Swinimer and the team at Homeward Bound City Pound accomplished a fabulous job for the municipality’s animals over the last number of years. I thank them for helping facilitate a smooth transition over to the SPCA’s new HRM Animal Redemption Centre.”

The SPCA will provide services to Halifax through the HRM Animal Redemption Centre beginning on May 1, 2020 at the former Homeward Bound City Pound location.
