Nova Scotia RCMP recognizes National Police Week

This week, the Nova Scotia RCMP is recognizing National Police Week, a public education campaign began back in 1970 as a way for the police to connect with their communities and to increase awareness about the services they provide.

This year’s theme is “One uniform. Many specialties.” Each day, we are reminded of the risks that police face to keep Canadians safe. Nova Scotia RCMP employees provide police services in communities throughout the province, whether it is on the front-line or supporting members behind the scene. National Police Week is an opportunity to acknowledge the dedication shown by all employees throughout the year.

In addition to local resources, there are also a number of specialized sections that make up the Nova Scotia RCMP, including Forensic Identification Services, Federal Serious and Organized Crime, Police Dog Services, Traffic Services, Underwater Recovery Team and the Emergency Response Team, to name a few.

Throughout the week, we’ll be sharing information about some of the RCMP specialized units on social media. Follow us on Facebook at Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Nova Scotia and on Twitter @RCMPNS to learn more about their roles
