Driver and passenger arrested after erratic driving complaint
On April 2 at 2:50 a.m., Pictou District RCMP responded to a call of a vehicle doing burn-outs on the Stellarton-Trafalgar Rd. The RCMP attended and located the suspect vehicle. The driver was located in the vehicle and the passenger fled on foot. The driver was showing signs of alcohol impairment and was taken to Stellarton Detachment for a breath test. The vehicle was towed. The driver provided breath samples, which were 2 1/2 times the legal limit. The driver, a 23-year-old man from Westville, was released on conditions and is scheduled to attend Pictou Provincial Court on August 3, on charges of Impaired Operation of a Conveyance and Operating a Conveyance With a Blood Alcohol Content Over 80 mg%.
The passenger, also a 23-year-old man from Westville, was later arrested near the scene. He was issued with a Summary Offence Ticket for failing to maintain a social distance of two metres or six feet under the HPA. He was also arrested for Breach of Probation and will appear in court at a later date on that charge.
