Commercial truck driver facing impaired driving charges

A 30-year-old Meadowvale man is facing impaired driving charges after a concerned caller contacted police to report that a commercial vehicle was being operated in a dangerous manner.​

The incident occurred on June 12 at approximately 5 p.m. Kings District RCMP members responded to the call and quickly located the vehicle on Hwy. 101 near Berwick. The driver was showing signs of impairment and was arrested. He was taken to the Kingston RCMP detachment where the driver provided breath samples, which determined he was impaired by alcohol. The driver was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Kentville Provincial Court on September 29 at 9:30 a.m., on charges of Impaired Operation of a Conveyance and Operation of a Conveyance with a Blood Alcohol Level Over 80 mg%.

If you drive impaired, you put yourself and others at risk. There is always an alternative to driving while impaired. If it is an emergency, call 911, and be prepared to provide the following information about the vehicle and/or the driver:

  • ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​description of the driver
  • ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​location of the vehicle
  • ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​direction of travel
