Bad hair days…

This young porcupine seemed a little grumpy about his hairstyle. Porcupines are intelligent animals and have a good range of vocalizations to let you know how they are feeling. Including whines and tooth-clicking when they are unhappy or feel threatened.

They also have grunts which are used to communicate their positions to other porcupines or threaten predators, various squeals, squeaks, and screaming noises, high-pitched chatters, and crying sounds.

We are not always sure what porcupines are saying, but they often have a lot to talk about.
