Emergency Services Investigate Another Earthquake in Dartmouth

At approximately 12:42 a.m. HRM Integrated Emergency Services began receiving multiple calls from citizens throughout East Dartmouth reporting their homes shaking and hearing sounds similar to explosions.​ Halifax Regional Police and Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency personnel responded to the impacted areas to check for potential damage or hazards.

Similar to the previous evening, this event appeared to primarily impact the Westphal and Montebello neighbourhoods of Dartmouth.

At the time of this release there have been no reports of injuries or damage to property.​

Halifax Regional Police is awaiting details from Earthquakes Canada staff with Natural Resources Canada to confirm details of the event. ​ Preliminary information posted via the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre describes the event as an earthquake occurring at a depth of 5km and registering 2.6 in magnitude on the Richter scale.
