A Message from Chief Stuebing:
Yesterday, General Jonathan Vance, Chief of Defence Staff has announced the tragic death of Sub-lieutenant Abbigail Cowbrough. Abbie was a respected member of the Union Fire Club Pipes And Drums band, practicing and participating in many events over the years to represent Halifax Regional Fire & Emergency (HRFE). We are all devastated by this news and she will be sorely missed.
Five Canadian Armed Forces members are still missing. HMCS Fredricton continue their search for their missing crew. We are hoping and praying for their recovery mission. We are also grateful to our allies for their support and continued search and rescue efforts.
As Gen. Jonathan Vance indicated, this is a time of agony for family, friends and fellow crew members. On behalf of all of HRFE, I send our deepest sympathy and any possible support we can provide.
