Police ask for public’s assistance regarding school bus safety

Halifax Regional Police are asking for the public’s assistance in addressing school bus safety.

It is illegal, and very dangerous, to pass a school bus when its red lights are flashing.

Over the next few weeks, officers will be doing targeted school bus safety enforcement.

The public is invited to share the locations of bus stops where they have observed drivers passing school busses illegally. To share a location visit HRP’s Facebook page and comment on this post:

Comments will be monitored and officers will be assigned to visit as many locations as possible.

Failing to stop for a school bus can result in a first offence fine of $410 and six points on your license. And most importantly, it could severely impact a person’s life.

HRP is responsible for policing the urban core of Halifax Regional Municipality as well as the Sambro Loop and the Purcells Cove – Herring Cove Loop.
