Happy 13th, Oliver!

Today is Oliver the Barred Owl’s 13th forever home day with Hope for Wildlife! Back on July 9th, 2011 a young injured barred owl arrived as a patient with a badly broken wing. We did our best, but unfortunately we had to amputate it. Later on he developed an illness in his left eye that required us to remove it. But, being the big loveable owl that he is, Ollie joined our education team as a resident and spent years traveling the province meeting children and adults alike, teaching them about owls.

While Ollie is retired from education now, he’s had a lot of jobs at Hope for Wildlife: Educator, TV Star, Self-appointed Laundry Room Supervisor, Self-appointed Nutrition Supervisor, Self-appointed Supervisor of Supervisor – well, you get the idea.
