UpdatedSpecial weather statement in effect

A winter storm is expected to affect the region mid-week.

Total snowfall: 10 to 25 cm, with higher amounts likely over eastern Nova Scotia.

Strongest wind gusts: 60 km/h except 80 km/h along parts of the coast.

Locations: most of Nova Scotia.

Time span: Tuesday afternoon into Wednesday.

Remarks: Snow is expected to spread across Nova Scotia from west to east Tuesday afternoon and continue into Wednesday in eastern parts of the province. Snow will likely change to rain in mainland Nova Scotia by Wednesday morning. Snow is expected to be heavy in nature as temperatures will remain near freezing.

Additionally, higher than normal waters levels and pounding surf will affect the Atlantic coast during high tides Tuesday night into Wednesday.
